Growing up in rural Southern Indiana, Mark was very blessed to have been exposed to the outdoor world at a very young age. In the age before X boxes, computers, and Reality TV, the woods would quickly become a large part of his life. Mark’s father worked in the coal mines, which in turn gave him access to thousands of acres of land to hunt, fish, and camp on as a child. After completing high school like most all of us it was time to start a career, Mark was very fortunate to land a job in the Sheet Metal Union and spent the next 12 years working in a shop in the city. Mark recalls sometimes working 7 days a week and 10 hours a day with one goal in mind, to own his own piece of hunting paradise.
In 2001 Mark had a decision to make that would change his life forever, leave a job with security and great retirement or take a chance and follow a dream that had always burned deep inside of him. The opportunity was to manage 13,000 acres in Western Kentucky as an outfitter for an Indiana based company. Over the next 5 years he would receive the education of a lifetime, learning from some of the top professional hunters and land biologists in the business. Guys like Larry Weishuhn, Bill Jordan, Gordon Wittington, Gary Clancy, Michael Waddell, Bob Foulkrod, Jerry Martin, Harold Knight, David Hale, and many more.
After a couple years of outfitting in Kentucky the opportunity to expand into Southern Illinois was presented in the form of 15,000 acres of prime hunting ground along the Little Wabash and Ohio River region of Gallatin & White County. It was a natural progression to move into real-estate sales at this point after creating a very successful business as an outfitter. During this time, Mark himself found that dream piece of ground; 400 acres in White County Illinois and began a strict management plan to optimize its whitetail potential. This was a piece of ground that had been hunted hard for many years but had the genetics to produce trophy deer. Over the next 6 years Mark and his partner have had many successful hunts and have been fortunate to have harvested 3 bucks scoring over 160 inches, one of these bucks you may remember from an earlier show on Whitetail Properties TV in 2007.
In closing we have complete confidence that Mark is the complete package; local boy, property owner, land manager, hard core deer hunter, and just an all around good guy. Mark is a guy that will work very hard to make sure that your dream becomes reality.
